While FX’s Pose has already made history with the largest cast transgender actors ever put on television, one episode in particular made history for a different reason. “Love Is the Message,” the show’s sixth episode, which aired Sunday night, was directed by Janet Mock — making her the first trans woman color to ever write and direct an episode television.

Mock shared her gratitude across social media on Sunday night, tweeting out a photo herself from the first evening on set her directorial debut. “That smile hides my nerves about being the first trans woman color to write & direct TV,” she wrote. “We are deserving opportunity & more than capable.”
