Cast of Broadway’s ‘Ain’t Too Proud’ Captivate With Temptations Medley on ‘Tonight Show’: Watch

The cast of Broadway's, Ain’t Too Proud: The Life and Times of the Temptations, brought down the house with an electrifying performance of The Temptations’ timeless classics “Get Ready” and “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg” on Thursday night’s (March 21) Tonight Show.

With a live orchestra to back them up, the five main characters of the new Broadway musical that follows the iconic Motown group's journey from the streets of Detroit to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame wore matching blue velvet blazers as they masterfully twirled and sang the dance-inducing R&B tunes.

Jeremy Pope (who plays Eddie Kendricks) opened the set with the lead vocals for the fleet-footed “Get Ready,” as his fellow cast members followed along with appropriately theatrical renditions of The Temps’ legendary coordinated dance moves. The soulful Ephraim Sykes (David Ruffin) then took over with a passionate performance of “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg” — building up to the grand finale, where he threw up the mic, twirled just in time to grab it and land a perfect split.

The Broadway musical directed by Tony award-winner Des McAnuff and choreographed by Olivier Award winner Sergio Trujillo opens on Friday (March 22).
