After blasting to No. 1 on the charts, Meg took to Instagram to reveal the surprise gift she received from her “WAP” collaborator.
She shared a video of her unboxing the pricey handbag from an orange Hermès box. The orange Birkin was custom painted with a portrait of Meg and a white tiger from the music video. The other side reads “Be someone,” a nod to the famed graffiti art above Interstate 45 in Meg’s hometown of Houston.
The bottom of the bag is inscribed with a personal message from Cardi. “Thank you Meg, really appreciate you!” Cardi wrote with a heart.
A grateful Meg thanked Cardi for the generous gift. “thank you frennn omg I can’t believe you,” she wrote in the caption, adding, “I wonder what I’m gonna get her.”
“WAP” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with 93 million U.S. streams, the biggest ever for a song in its first week of release. The song extends Cardi’s record as the female rapper with the most Hot 100 No. 1s, while Megan earns her second No. 1 following “Savage” featuring Beyoncé.
After hearing that the song had debuted at No. 1, Meg was overcome with emotion. “Me and cardi just got off the phone screaming,” she wrote. “FIRST FEMALE RAP COLLABORATION IN HISTORY TO DEBUT AT NUMBER 1 God is so great THANK YALL !!!”
She also shared a thank you message to her collaborator. “@iamcardib thank you for all your words of encouragement, thank you for all the laughs, & thank you for having me on the record.”
Cardi returned the love. “Breaking pop records! HIP HOP DID THAT !!
