Cardi B, G-Eazy and J Balvin teamed up to take KAOS by storm on Saturday night (April 6) and officially christen the new club "the most lit location in the motherf--king universe."
That distinction came from G-Eazy shortly following J Balvin's performance, which had KAOS' dance floor and intensely crowded pool area bouncing to his reggaeton beats throughout his half-hour set. Saturday marked the third official night of business for the Palms' nightlife destination, with Marshmello launching his residency on Thursday (April 4) and Travis Scott and Skrillex sharing a bill on Friday (April 5).
The crowd grew a little between opening night and Scott's takeover, but the turnout for Saturday seemed to double the two prior nights combined. From the KAOS mezzanine, one could look out over the packed club, past the DJ booth brimming with VIPs and into the outdoor expanse, which was swarming with people -- especially near the outdoor stage, which is where Balvin began with 2018's single "Reggaeton." As expected, "I Like It," his collaboration with the evening's headliner, and "Mi Gente," his breakout single, were explosive and ecstatically received, with all in earshot jumping up and down in time with the Colombian reggaetonero.
He was a tough act to follow, but G-Eazy rose to the occasion -- and offered up a pleasant surprise, too, in the form of an impromptu Machine Gun Kelly cameo. The two have traded barbs in diss tracks and freestyles in the past, but all of that ill will seemed to be forgotten once MGK hopped onstage to perfom "LOCO." (Hopefully, this truce won't stay in Vegas, even if it happened here.)
G-Eazy grabbed a fan's phone to snap a quick selfie before debuting a new track, and he later popped up again after Cardi -- wearing a gigantic, seafoam green hat and a matching maribou-trimmed gown -- took the stage close to 4 a.m. The hits were present and accounted for, from set-starter "Money" to "Bodak Yellow" and a number of tracks off her Grammy-winning 2018 debut Invasion of Privacy.
Her KAOS set coincided with the one-year anniversary of her life-changing album drop, and clearly her fans in Vegas were thrilled to show her love by rapping along with her to "I Like It" and "She Bad." She was just as happy and beamed as she danced in between spitting bars, and she closed by bringing G-Eazy back out to wrap the night with their "No Limit" remix.
