The bright cartoon characters known as BT21 are going to be adorning pairs Converse throughout parts Asia, the footwear brand and Line announced this week.
The eight different BT21 characters, created by the members BTS and Line Friends, will appear on the canvas three styles Chuck Taylor All Stars. The shoeline launches on July 27 in South Korea, China, and Hong Kong, and Aug. 1 in Taiwan.
The Converse x BT21 collaboration will be available in black Chuck Taylor All Star Hi tops and in black and white Chuck Taylor All Star Ox sneakers. All three variants will feature feature white and/or colored print featuring the BT21 characters and “UNIVERSTAR BT21” printed. A special limited-edition pack will feature the shoes in collector’s boxes that feature BT21 tote bags, different laces, and BT21 patch pins.
When Line and BTS launched BT21 last year, Line told Billboard that the goal was to integrate the characters with street wear. Along with the Converse collaboration, a variety garments and footwear are currently part the BT21 line available at various Line stores around the world.
The BT21 characters were created by the members the record-breaking septet, with each member BTS creating his own figure and a bonus eighth figure meant to represent the group’s fan ARMY.
BTS released the song "Converse High" on their 2016 album The Most Beautiful Moment in Life: Young Forever. Due to the brand name's usage, the song was performed as "Lovers High" on South Korean television shows.
According to Converse, BT21 is a great match for its brand, saying, “As BT21 has captivated millennials around the globe, Converse introduces an fering that goes beyond simple endorsement.”
BT21 also launched a drawing competition in collaboration with the release the Converse line, giving fans a chance to win special Converse x BT21 prize packages.
