BTS kicked off Good Morning America’s 2019 Summer Concert Series in Central Park this morning (May 15) with performances of their hit singles “Boy With Luv” and “Fire.”
The septet took to the stage after talking with Michael Strahan and Robin Roberts about their current Love Yourself: Speak Yourself tour, fans camping out for days in Central Park, and making history with their third No. 1 Billboard 200 album, Map of the Soul: Persona.
"It's so amazing," said Jungkook about being on tour. "It feels like a dream. "Yea, I can't wait to see you guys at Metlife Stadium," said J-Hope, before asking fans if they were also excited for the two upcoming shows at the New Jersey venue, which will be held on May 18 and 19.
"Our fans are the best. They are motivation. We love you ARMY," said V, giving a shout-out to the act's fandom. RM added, "Thank you for waiting for days [in the rain, cold, everything].”
Strahan also asked the group how it felt to know they’re “huge” after their album brought them into the same tier as the likes of The Beatles when it became their third No. 1 in the span of a year.
“We’re all fanboys of [the] Beatles, of course. I mean, who is not? We feel so honored to be with the greatest names in music industry. We’re…we are BTS [laughs]. We’re doing our music. We love the Beatles, of course.”
BTS previously became the first-ever Korean group to appear on GMA last year.
