BTS Add Saudi Arabia Concert to ‘Love Yourself: Speak Yourself Tour’

BTS have added a Saudi Arabia date to their world tour schedule.

The K-pop superstars are now booked to play at the King Fahd International Stadium in the capital city of Riyadh on Oct. 11, a late date on their all-conquering Love Yourself: Speak Yourself trek.

With the open-air slot, BTS are poised to become the first foreign act to play a headline stadium show in the kingdom, according to various reports. Ticket details will be announced in due course.

It’s bound to be a controversial destination and Sunday’s announcement Big Hit Entertainment comes just days after Nicki Minaj canceled her own appearance at Jeddah World Fest later this week following pressure from Human Rights Foundation and its CEO Thor Halvorssen.

Halvorssen wrote the rapper a lengthy letter on the country’s human rights violations, its treatment of women — including a recently-lifted ban that had previously prevented women from driving or attending events such as this festival — and abuse of the LGBTQ community.

The foundation has also urged former One Direction star Liam Payne to follow suit and cancel his commitment with the July 18 Jeddah World Fest.

BTS are right up there with the most popular groups on the planet right now. In April, the history-making boy band nailed a third No. 1 album in less than 12 months on the Billboard 200, as Map of the Soul: Persona, started atop the chart. They're the first — and only — K-pop act to rule the Billboard 200. As it stands, BTS’ world tour is due to wrap up Oct. 29 with the third of three shows at Seoul’s Olympic Stadium.

HRF has yet to comment on BTS’ planned concert in Riyadh.
