Just after Warner Bros. announced that the studio acquired Bruce Springsteen's concert documentary, Western Stars, its first official trailer was released Monday (Aug. 19).
Directed by Springsteen and Thom Zimny, the film will feature a performance of Springsteen's latest album of the same name in his historic barn, driven by narration and archival videos. The trailer is certainly cinematic, splicing in beautiful shots of the American West with footage of a contemplative Springsteen as he speaks on themes of love, loss and regret.
"I've spent 35 years learning how to let go of the destructive parts of my character," Springsteen says in the preview. "We all have our broken pieces. Emotionally, spiritually, in this life – no one gets away unhurt."
Another Springsteen-centric Warner Bros. film, Blinded by the Light, hit theaters Aug. 16. Western Stars is slated for an October release, though an exact date has yet to be announced.
