Hip-hop collective BROCKHAMPTON will hit the stage for the first time next week since the departure former member Ameer Vann last month in light allegations sexual misconduct against him. The group announced their return in a tweet posted on Wednesday (June 13) in which one the members emerged from a swimming pool with the words “Brockhampton Live on Fallon 6/20/18” written on his chest.
The tweet was the first communique from the group since a May 27 announcement about the split with Vann, which read, “we want to sincerely apologize to victims affected by Ameer's actions. We were lied to, and we're sorry for not speaking up sooner. We do not tolerate abuse any kind. This is not a solution to their suffering, but we hope this is a step in the right direction.” The group then canceled the remainder their U.S. tour dates.
Vann has denied the allegations against him, but recently two women came forward to share the details about their alleged abuse, with one 24 year-old woman saying she engaged in a brief sexual relationship with Vann in January 2015, but did not consent to rough BDSM, which she said included choking that left her briefly unconscious. Another woman also described similar behavior when she was in a brief relationship with Vann in 2015.
The group's major label debut, Puppy, is slated for release later this summer.
