The lyrics of the brand new track describe the trio's return to their unique late acutely aware 90s rap sound after a mid-2000s journey into the pop realm with longtime singer Fergie.

"Back 2 Hiphop" opened with the group — wearing all black — standing in entrance of a light-surrounded triangle. Electrified horns quickly blared, summoning a cool, reggae-like beat.

The guys bopped round as claimed the primary verse: “Ring the alarm, get on the horn and inform/ Everyone from Oregon to Melbourne/ That the funk phenomenon has been reborn and reworked.”

Vocalist Jessica Reynoso slowed down the jiving to tackle the graceful refrain, an interpolations of Soul II Soul's iconic "Back to Life," throughout which she sang, “Back to life, again to life,” repeatedly in her velvety voice because the boys interjected some excited ad-libs.
