Beast Coast, Naomi Scott & Lil Tecca Debut On Emerging Artists Chart

Plus, City Girls return to No. 1.

All-star hip-hop group Beast Coast debuts at No. 2 on Billboard's Emerging Artists chart (dated June 8), as its first LP, Escape From New York, opens at No. 29 on the Billboard 200 with 16,000 equivalent album units, according to Nielsen Music.

The collective, which consists of members of Pro Era, Flatbush Zombies and the Underachievers, has toured together extensively but had never previously appeared on Billboard's charts as a singular unit.

Separately, Flatbush Zombies and the Underachievers have each sent two albums onto the Billboard 200: the former's 3001: A Laced Odyssey reached No. 10 in 2016 and Vacation in Hell hit No. 11 in 2018, while the latter charted with Cellar Door: Terminus Ut Exordium (No. 86, 2014) and Evermore: The Art of Duality (No. 105, 2015).

The Emerging Artists chart ranks the most popular developing artists of the week, using the same formula as the all-encompassing Billboard Artist 100, which measures artist activity across multiple Billboard charts, including the Billboard Hot 100, Billboard 200 and the Social 50. (The Artist 100 lists the most popular acts, overall, each week.) However, the Emerging Artists chart excludes acts that have notched a top 25 entry on either the Hot 100 or Billboard 200, as well as artists that have achieved two or more top 10s on Billboard's "Hot" song genre charts and/or consumption-based "Top" album genre rankings.

City Girls rebound from No. 4 to No. 1 on Emerging Artists for a ninth week on top, as their single "Act Up" spends an eighth week in the Hot 100's top 40, at No. 31.

Aladdin actress-singer Naomi Scott debuts at No. 5 on Emerging Artists, thanks to her contributions to the new film's soundtrack. Her three versions of "Speechless" from the set enter the Kid Digital Song Sales chart, led by its "full" recording at No. 1 (11,000 sold), while "Part 2" and "Part 1" bow at Nos. 12 and 13 with 2,000 and 1,000 sold, respectively, according to Nielsen Music. Plus, "A Whole New World," with Aladdin co-star Mena Massoud, debuts No. 2 (7,000). On the all-genre Digital Song Sales list, the "full" version of "Speechless" starts at No. 21, while "World" enters at No. 32.

Scott, who starred in the 2011 Disney movie Lemonade Mouth, earned two Hot 100 entries that year: "Determinate" and "Breakthrough," both with Bridgit Mendler, Adam Hicks and Hayley Kiyoko.

Plus, Queens-based rapper Lil Tecca, 16, makes his Billboard chart debut, entering Emerging Artists at No. 32, as his breakout single "Ran$om" arrives at Nos. 1 and 8 on the Hot Rap Songs and Hot 100's Bubbling Under charts, respectively. After its official video, directed by Cole Bennett, premiered May 22, the song drew 8.1 million U.S. streams in the tracking week.
