Barry Manilow's big Las Vegas opening weekend has been put on hold due to a bronchial infection.

During the preparation for his "Manilow Live -- The Hits Come Home" premiere on Thursday (June 14), the 74-year old star was taken to a hospital and prescribed antibiotics, forcing him to cancel his weekend shows, according to the The Las Vegas Review-Journal. The diagnosis follows Manilow's turbulent 2016, during which he had to cancel tour dates on his "One Last Time" tour due to complications stemming from emergency oral surgery.

The singer expressed his sadness in a tweet shortly after the diagnosis. "Our new show is ready, we're all ready, and we were all looking forward to tonight."

Clint Holmes and Earl Turner will be co-headlining the event in place Manilow with their "Soundtrack" show at the International Theater starting at 8 p.m. All ticket-holders will be able to use their tickets for the "Soundtrack" performance or are eligible to receive a full refund at their ticket's place purchase.

Manilow is scheduled to be released from the hospital in the next few days and is planning to resume his Vegas series on June 21.
