Azealia Banks isn't giving up her pursuit to take down Russell Crowe. Banks has maintained her claims that the actor spit on and forcibly removed her from a hotel suite party in Beverly Hills that she was attending with RZA in 2016. Now, the Harlem native has launched a GoFundMe to help financially assist her in filing a lawsuit against Crowe.
"Russell Crowe spit on me at a party in 2016 and denied it, had a group people gaslight me causing irreparable damage to my acting career and my reputation as well as loads emotional damage. Whatever money comes this will be donated to ocean clean up charities," she began, writing in the fundraiser's bio.
The 27-year-old wants to make an example out Crowe and see the proper justice get served. "This isn’t about a big payday for me, it’s about letting the world know that black women are victims to the same sort disgusting violence men in Hollywood deal out to women and it’s important to send a message that black women also deserve justice and will get justice in these situations," Banks penned.
The fundraiser has collected nearly $2,000 its $100,000 goal as press time. Azealia originally filed a battery report against Russell Crowe, claiming she was choked, spit on, and called a racial slur by the 54-year-old in October 2016. The battery case was later dropped before the year's end.
"If I were a white singer he wouldn’t have even thought about laying a finger on me. So many things like this happen in the entertainment industry and it’s time that ALL these perpetrators get reprimanded so they STOP this violent behavior," Banks concluded on the GoFundMe donation page.
Azealia is putting the finishing touches on her highly anticipated sophomore album, Fantasea II. "Everything just sounds much more mature," she recently told Highsnobiety.
