More than a year after his death, Avicii's legacy remains vibrant, with tickets for an upcoming Avicii tribute concert selling out in 30 minutes after going on sale earlier today (Sept. 5.) 55,000 tickets for The Avicii Tribute Concert for Mental Health Awareness were purchased by fans in Sweden and beyond for the Dec. 5 show at The Friends Arena in Stockholm.
"It's overwhelming, difficult to take in," Avicii's father Klas Bergling said in a statement regarding the sell out. "I’m so grateful for all the people who want to share this special evening with us."
The show will feature sets from Avicii's friends and collaborators including David Guetta, Kygo, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Laidback Luke and Nicky Romero.
The show will also include a cadre of artists who worked with Avicii, née Tim Bergling, throughout his career. This lineup includes Adam Lambert and Rita Ora, Alex Ebert, Aloe Blacc, Amanda Wilson, Andreas Moe, Audra Mae, Blondfire, Bonn, Carl Falk, Dan Tyminski, Daniel Adams Ray, Joe Janiak, Nick Furlong, Otto Knows, Sandro Cavazza, Simon Aldred, Vargas Lagola and Zack Abel, with more to be announced.
Proceeds from the show will benefit the Tim Bergling Foundation, which champions causes related to mental health and other initiatives.
