The 'Sweet But Psycho' singer is currently prepping her debut studio album.
Rising singer-songwriter Ava Max has entered into a joint co-publishing agreement with Warner Chappell Music and Artist Publishing Group (APG), it was announced Wednesday (Sept. 4). The worldwide deal covers Max’s entire catalog as well as new songs going forward.
“I’m someone who speaks my mind, so it was important to me that my publisher value originality and creative expression,” said Max. “I trust the APG crew immensely, and am excited to collaborate with the Warner Chappell team to begin this next chapter.”
Max’s breakthrough single “Sweet But Psycho” reached No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 this past May and peaked at No. 1 in over 25 countries, including Germany, Finland, Ireland and the U.K. Max also topped the Billboard Emerging Artists Chart for 10 consecutive weeks.
"Ava is bold, fearless, and a breath of fresh air,” said Warner Chappell president A&R, U.S. Ryan Press and vp A&R Katy Wolaver in a joint statement. “The world’s only just begun to see the heights that she can hit, and we’re excited to be by her side in the journey ahead.”
Added APG GM Angie Pagano: “I’ve had the privilege of working closely with Ava, and it’s amazing to see her personality and creativity brought to life in her music. Her incredible voice and passion for pop music set her apart, and I’m happy to support her relentless determination as she continues to skyrocket.”
Max previously told Billboard that “Sweet But Psycho,” followup single “So Am I” and last year's “Salt” will all be featured on her debut album, which she’s looking to put out this year.
"There are some other tracks on there that are like wild cards, and there are a few that I'm being vulnerable in," Max toldBillboard’s Pop Shop podcast in April. "But you will hear the anthemic pop songs that you have heard, like 'Not Your Barbie Girl.' ... Female empowerment is very strong in my life and that's how I am. I'm a very outspoken person and it shows in my music, especially my lyrics and in the album.”
Max was nominated for Best New Artist at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards.
