As RuPaul’s Drag Race becomes more and more of an international phenomenon, celebrities everywhere are finally tuning into and sharing their love for the show. Stars like Leslie Jones, Anna Kendrick and Andrew Garfield have openly expressed their devotion to the program.
Another celeb who loves Drag Race? Anne Hathaway. During her appearance on the latest episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, the actress said that she often watches the show as an escape. “Oh my god, I love that show so much,” she gushed.
But the real twist came when Colbert asked the star if she had ever met RuPaul. When she said she hadn’t, the host called backstage, and Ru emerged in a metallic suit to greet his devoted fan. Hathaway, as it turns out, was absolutely gagged, repeatedly squealing through excited tears, “I love you so much!"
Ru sat down with Hathaway and expressed his gratitude right back, declaring her “the winner of this week’s challenge,” and adding his classic line, “Shantay, you stay.” Hathaway was clearly overwhelmed, as she took tissues from Colbert to dab tears away from her eyes.
When asked if she had a favorite moment from the show, Hathaway was quick to reply with her love of All Stars 4 winner Monét X Change. “The way she stepped her p—y up,” Hathaway said through tears, as RuPaul cackled to the side. “I feel like since I started being an actress I’ve learned how to step my p—y up, and now our p—ys are up, and I’m just thrilled for her.”
