American Football stopped by NPR's Washington, D.C. offices for the latest Tiny Desk Concert, uploaded on July 8.
The group performed three songs from their newest effort, LP3, "Every Wave To Ever Rise," "Uncomfortably Numb," and "Heir Apparent."
About halfway through the last song, the emo rockers brought out The Children's Chorus of Washington. NPR shared that when the choir, made up of 12 to 14-year-olds, asked frontman Mike Kinsella about the meaning of the song, he told them it was a sad song, but he wanted them to perform it while wearing paper crowns.
For the rest of the performance, the band came with minimal banter and a whole lot of instrumental backup, including a vibraphone, backup vocals, a trumpet, and a melodica.
