American Aquarium Arrives at No. 5 on Emerging Artists Chart, Lauv Rules For Second Week

Plus, Raymix reaches a new peak and Dennis Lloyd debuts.

Alt-country quintet American Aquarium debuts at No. 5 on Billboard's Emerging Artists chart (dated June 16), as the band's Things Change starts at No. 7 on Americana/Folk Albums, No. 20 on Top Country Albums and No. 30 on Top Rock Albums with 5,000 equivalent album units, according to Nielsen Music.

The LP is the first for the group, which formed in 2006 in Raleigh, North Carolina, on the New West Records label, and its first to make the Billboard 200 (No. 154).

The Emerging Artists chart ranks the most popular developing artists the week, using the same formula as the all-encompassing Billboard Artist 100, which measures artist activity across multiple Billboard charts, including the Billboard Hot 100, Billboard 200 and the Social 50. (The Artist 100 lists the most popular acts, overall, the week.) However, the Emerging Artists chart excludes acts that have notched a top 25 entry on either the Hot 100 or Billboard 200, as well as artists that have achieved two or more top 10s on Billboard's "Hot" song genre charts and/or consumption-based "Top" album genre rankings.

Lauv rules the Emerging Artists chart for a second week, as his breakout single "I Like Me Better" pushes 13-11 in its 34th week on the Pop Songs airplay chart, over a year after the song's release. Lauv's debut LP I Met You When I Was 18. (The Playlist), released May 31, debuts on the Billboard 200 at No. 50 (11,000 units).

Also in the Emerging Artists' top five, country artists Morgan Wallen and Jordan Davis hold at Nos. 2 and 3, respectively, and K-pop group Wanna One rises 5-4.

Mexican singer Raymix logs a new Emerging Artists peak, surging 22-14, as his first hit "Oye Mujer" spends its ninth week at No. 1 on Tropical Songs and holds at its No. 10 high on Hot Latin Songs.

Plus, Israeli singer Dennis Lloyd debuts at No. 30 on Emerging Artists, powered by his breakthrough single "Nevermind." The song, a top five hit on multiple European charts, reaches a new best rank on Alternative Songs (36-29).
