All of Los Angeles Azules’ Hits on the Regional Mexican Songs Chart

Los Angeles Azules are keeping traditional Mexican cumbia alive one song at a time.

Formed by siblings of the Mejia Avante family — Elías, Alfredo, José Hilario, Jorge, Cristina and Guadalupe in 1983 — the Mexican musical group is known for their catchy cumbia sonidera sound, including Billboard chart hits such as “Como Te Voy a Olvidar” and the 2018 “Nunca es Suficiente” featuring Natalia Lafourcade, which landed the group their first No. 1 in 19 years on the Regional Mexican Airplay chart (dated Jan. 26).

Their latest single “Amor a Primera Vista,” in collaboration with Belinda, Horacio Palencia and Lalo Ebratt, jumped 11-4 on the Regional Mexican Airplay chart-dated Aug. 17, nabbing the group their eighth top 10.

“We’ve been working for many years with cumbia and romantic music,” founding member Dr. Elias told Billboard in a previous interview. “I think that everything that’s happening to us right now is something very historic for a tropical group.”
