Alex Lahey introduced her sophomore album and unveiled the video for her newest single “Don’t Be So Hard On Yourself” on Wednesday (Feb. 20).
The Best Of Luck Club, the follow-up to the Australian rocker’s 2017 debut album I Love You Like a Brother, is about to be launched on May 17 on Dead Oceans.
“The Best Of Luck Club was written throughout a 12 month interval that noticed me expertise the best of highs and the bottom of lows in my life to this point,” Lahey tells Billboard. “For me, The Best Of Luck Club is a house for all these tales, that are issues we've all skilled. In the brand new video for “Don’t Be So Hard On Yourself, Lahey rocks out at a mysterious analysis facility within the woods whereas being noticed by a legion of quirky, masked scientists. The singer-songwriter additionally performs a vibrant saxophone solo on the tune's bridge.
According to Lahey, the lead single expounds on the upcoming album’s central themes of empathy and relatable tales.
“'Don't Be So Hard On Yourself' was a message for somebody I like,” she says, “telling them that it doesn't matter how succesful or robust or resilient they're, all of us have dangerous days and that's OK.”
