Alessia Cara should be the one receiving presents today (July 11), as the "Scars to Your Beautiful" singer is celebrating her 22nd birthday -- but she decided to give fans a gift instead. As the clock struck midnight, Cara kicked f her birthday by dropping a new song titled "A Little More."
Cara teased the song on social media, telling fans she wrote and produced the track in her basement. The acoustic ballad is one Cara's most raw releases yet, with stripped-down guitar allowing her smoky tone to shine and her breathy vocals to make lyrics like "it looks as if I stumbled right into the palm your hand" feel as vulnerable as they do heartfelt.
The pretty love song serves as a nice contrast to Cara's previous release, "Growing Pains," which is more a classic Alessia Cara pop hit with perceptive lyrics. The singer announced last month that she'll be releasing her highly anticipated sophomore album The Pains Growing this fall.
