FKA twigs invaded NYC with a pair of shows as part of the Red Bull Music Festival over the weekend. On Mother's Day (May 12), the British artist surprised the jam-packed Park Avenue Armory by bringing out frequent collaborator and Harlem's own A$AP Rocky as a special guest.
After incorporating some katana swords and stripper poles into her genre-blending set, Flacko hit the stage to perform their experimental collaboration "Fukk Sleep" off his 2018 Testing album. Twigs danced in the background as Rocky briefly became the main attraction to run through his rhymes.
Twigs made her welcomed return in April with "Cellophane," which marked her first single since 2016. After a few European dates, the 31-year-old returns to NYC for Afropunk Brooklyn in August.
Brooklyn Vegan also pointed out that the soprano singer emotionally broke down while finishing "Mirrored Heart" at the Armory.
