79.5 are as addicting as they are fun, and their new single “Boy Don't Be Afraid,” proves that. The New York band premieres the energetic and infectious track on Billboard today (June 29), from their forthcoming debut album Predictions, which will be released Sept. 28 Big Crown Records.
“Like many the girl group classics, 'Boy Don't Be Afraid' is a song about love,” vocalist Kate Mattison says the new tune. “But beyond that, it is a song about being — being hopeful, being romantic, being brave. A romantic stance and a declaration love through melody. And like a classic New York deli cup cfee, light and sweet.”
With influences from all over the map, 79.5 masterfully blend a number styles to create a unique, yet easy to listen to, experience. Those who live in the New York City area can witness that experience live, as 79.5 will be performing at two hometown shows, C'mon Everybody on July 20, and at Rough Trade for the Big Crown Showcase on August 11.
