6ix9ine was arrested in New York City on Wednesday (July 11) on an outstanding warrant.
The “Gummo” rapper was taken into custody at JFK Airport after he returned from his European tour, reports TMZ. He was wanted for allegedly choking a 16-year-old kid in January at Houston’s Galleria Mall. Cops were enforcing a warrant out Houston for the mall attack.
The alleged victim, Santiago Albarran, says he ran into 6ix9ine at the mall on Jan. 6 and started recording him on his phone. Albarran claims Tekashi turned around and told him to delete the video before grabbing him by the neck as his bodyguards surrounded him. Albarran reported the incident to cops, who documented the scratch marks on Albarran’s neck.
6ix9ine’s team was reportedly aware the arrest warrant, and intended to deal with it. They also believe that the NYPD should not have arrested him and extradited him to Texas for what’s ultimately a misdemeanor case.
Just last month, 6ix9ine was named a person interest in the attempted shooting Chief Keef outside the W Hotel in Times Square. 6ix9ine was reportedly in L.A. at the time the shooting and has denied any involvement.
