4U: A Symphonic Celebration of Prince Tour Slated for Fall

Questlove curated the set list and orchestral arrangements.
Live Nation Urban and TCG Entertainment are teaming up to pay tribute to late music icon Prince in a mostly unexpected way. The “Purple Rain” star, no stranger to dramatic gestures, will be celebrated with the 35-city 4U: A Symphonic Celebration Prince, a Prince Estate-approved outing that will present the Purple One's music with a full symphony orchestra for the first time, playing alongside a live band featuring vocalists.
The show will draw from Prince's extensive catalog, with a release announcing the tour promising that it will highlight “many his hits that captivated generations fans, alongside lesser-known gems.” The set list and orchestral arrangements have been curated by avid Prince fanatic Questlove The Roots. The tour is slated to ficially kick f on Sept. 8 at Wolf Trap in Washington, D.C. with accompaniment from the Wolf Trap Orchestra.
“It’s such a blessing to be able to pay homage to and celebrate the music a creative genius like Prince,” said Live Nation Urban president Shawn Gee. “One the goals Live Nation Urban is to create unique live platforms and to redefine what the norms the live experience are. We are beyond excited to be working alongside the Estate in creating what we hope to be a long standing artistic celebration an artist who inspired so many.” At press time no additional information was available about the musicians who will perform on the tour.
The outing is currently slated to run through an October 21 date at the Arvest Bank Theatre at The Midland in Kansas City, MO, with additional 2018-2019 U.S. and international dates to be announced at a later date.
