The Queen Disco is coming back to life on the Broadway stage thanks to Summer: The Donna Summer Musical, and viewers Monday night's (May 21) The Tonight Show got a preview the theatrical tribute to Donna Summer. The "Three Donnas" who portray the dance music icon took the studio stage to perform the late diva's No. 1 hit, "MacArthur Park."
"Disco Donna," portrayed by Ariana DeBose, opened the tune under the glow a single spotlight with her sequined dress continuously catching the light. She belted out the introduction before the quintessential 1970s beat and instrumentals swelled, kicking f an electric rendition the 1978 Summer standard written by Jimmy Webb in 1968.
By the song's end, DeBose was joined by castmates Storm Lever and LaChanze -- "Duckling Donna" and "Diva Donna," respectively -- for an infectious, harmonious finale, complete with a shower confetti.
The bio-musical made its way to Broadway last month after debuting at La Jolla Playhouse last November. Watch the performance from Summer: The Donna Summer Musical below.
