An Insider Scoop On Lukay’s Habits And Practices That Inspire His Music
On 21 December 2015
For all of us non-artist folk, I think we can all agree on one thing, we are often puzzled by the idea of writing songs. Where do the lyrics come from? How are these catchy and mind-blowing melodies created? What comes first, the lyrics or the melody? While the process differs from artist to artist, the feat is not an easy one. We’ve had the pleasure to get some information from the artist, Lukay, about his habits and practices that inspire creativity and help him write his music. So, what did he have to say?
“I like to start my day with a glass of lemon water or apple cider vinegar and water, just to get rid of all the toxins in my body. It's also a great energy booster, so that's why I take it before I start my day.
Then I like to dedicate an hour of my morning to social media. Within that hour, I go to sites such as Facebook, SnapChat and worldstarhiphop.com, just to be able to be updated with what's going on in the world, and sometimes I may get inspiration to write about something I saw online.
If I don't end up going to the gym in the morning, I do a few exercise reps such as push up and sit ups.
Then I open my music software "Logic" and I get to work. Depending on how I'm feeling that day, I either start making beats, write to beats that producers or my publisher has sent or I record a song that I've written in the previous days. If I'm working on a project, then typically I'll be in the studio all day.
My days are not always exactly in the same order, but for sure being healthy, in shape, and working on my music is always part of the equation.”
From the success of his releases, we can conclude that Lukay’s equation has been delivering. You can check out his tracks - my particular favorite is “All Night.” With this exclusive scoop, now you have a greater picture how music is made, and how it is not always as spontaneous as we may believe.
